Objectives: This conference aims to: … support contemporary women's writing and scholars of that writing, from the U.S., the U.K., and around the world; … highlight the Contemporary Women's Writing Network in the U.K., including their Oxford University Press journal, Contemporary Women's Writing, through the sponsorship and participation of their members; … foster the integration of contemporary women's writing with new technologies of publication, circulation, reading, teaching, and learning; … showcase San Diego State University as a premier research institution, by hosting and widely publicizing an international academic conference; … promote interdisciplinary research projects between various San Diego State University departments and programs through the collaborative organization and sponsorship of this conference; … foreground SDSU's Departments of English and Comparative Literature, European Studies, and Women's Studies as leaders in literary scholarship, through their sponsorship and the organization of the conference by their faculty members, Edith Frampton and Anne Donadey; … increase the visibility of SDSU's pICT initiative, as an important force in integrating new technologies with teaching and learning across the university; … forge new connections between SDSU faculty and staff and scholars, academic societies, creative writers, publishers, and industry members worldwide; … stimulate innovative thinking between creative writers, faculty members, independent scholars, students, and industry participants, through the exchange of ideas among participants on panels; … envision what the future holds for contemporary women's writing and its potential new relationships to publishing, circulation, reading, teaching, and learning; … develop faculty, scholar, and student proficiency in the twenty-first-century technologies of circulation, publishing, reading, teaching, and learning.
